Life at Bard

To move medicine forward. It is why we come to work every day and it’s what inspires us all to succeed.

All of our people have a part to play in helping our patients lead the lives they want.

Our parts are very different, we all have different roles, different personalities, even different working patterns, but even though what we’re doing may be different how we do it is the same.

Our Space

We are extremely privileged to have excellent working conditions; our buildings (Unit 191 and 198) are based on the Cambridge Science Park, which is Europe’s longest-serving and one of the largest centres for commercial research and development.

Our iconic flagship building, Unit 191, affectionately known as the toast-rack, houses our manufacturing facilities and laboratories. Its recent refurbishment has provided us with excellent working facilities, including modern open space offices, and RetrEAT, our very own airy, first-class restaurant which provides a delightful array of food and beverages to suit everyone’s needs.

Our History

Bard Pharmaceuticals was founded in 1966 serving as the Production and Supply Chain and Quality division of the Napp Pharmaceutical Group.

In the 1970′s, we began production of the Continus® system, a prolonged release technology, which has been combined with a variety of existing, effective medicines to bring additional benefits to patients. This was one of the most important founding achievements of our business and we still produce medicines using this system onsite today. Over the years we have continued to develop alternative prolonged release formulations and expanded our portfolio of medicines in a variety of therapy areas, including pain and respiratory medicine.
